Vineyards for Sale

The Lifestyle Vineyard concept in France is one that embraces three key elements: the sale of freehold French vineyards, quality wines supplied to you without any effort (unless you want to help at the harvest!), and a limited investment, with also, the opportunity to involve yourself in tasting and blending sessions, wine festivals, and, of course, the wealth of things to do in the Languedoc area.

Freehold Land Ownership

There will be three steps to your vineyard purchase:

  • The selection of your preferred vineyard plot. Each plot, approximately 1200 m sq is planted with about 375 vines and we have several varietals to choose from among the vineyards for sale.
  • As in the UK, the purchase of land is divided into two main stages, the first being the preliminary contract or 'compromis de vente' through a Notary.
  • Normally about 12 weeks later follows the deed of sale or 'acte de vente.' The balance is paid and the vineyard and title deeds are yours.

Wine from a Hands-free Vineyard

wine_bottlesWe have put together a 10-year 'Fermage' Agreement (renewable) whereby Domaine Gayda locally manage the vineyard (land preparation, trellising, pruning and thinning) and then the hand harvesting of the fruit, vinification, bottling and labelling. We also insure the vines and take care of any costs of any organic fertilizers needed. There is no additional charge for the Management service, as we will be benefiting from the fruit from your vineyard for blending in our production of the Gayda range of wines. We do however provide the owner with 96 bottles of wine every year. The wine you receive will contain, as part of the blending process, fruit grown on your vineyard.

Lifestyle

Lifestyle is defined as "habits of consumption and recreation" and we felt it was an important part of the product to enable vineyard owners to participate in the vineyard, winemaking journey and winery activities as well as local wine festivals and events. So feel free to come down and help harvest the fruit from your vineyard. It is always party time after the end of a hard day's picking!
