Lifestyle Vineyard Ownership
Selecting Your Vineyard
Domaine Gayda has extensive vineyards around the village of La Liviniere that are available through 'Lifestyle Vineyards'.
is situated in the territory of “le Petit Causse” north east of Minervois. Originally a roman settlement called Cella Vinaria it changed it’s name to Liviniera in 1069 AD and has a population of 508. Recently it has become a respected wine region with Chateau Laville Betrou as a well-known estate. La Liviniere has ancient narrow winding streets, alleyways, arches and beautiful vistas. It is situated on a hill with the tower of the church dominating the surrounding countryside. The village backs on to the Montagne Noire and overlooks the Plain of the river Aude and the Canal du Midi. On a clear day you feel that you can lean out and touch the Pyrenees. The village itself has a general store, a bakery, a chemist, a Post-Office and a café/bar. A 'greengrocers' van and a 'fish' van also call regularly to the village. There are apartments available for rent in the village and if you are staying locally, for more extensive shopping expeditions Olonzac and Peyriac are both within 15 minutes drive away. Narbonne and Carcassonne are both just under a half hour drive.

The Romans
It is rumoured that one retired Centurion, Livinius, made his home here and developed vineyards for wine production, which was shipped back to Rome circa AD 10.
